The Hotel
Overlooking the Knavesmire Common and York Racecourse, the Newington Hotel is a grade 2 listed building, which was originally built as a terrace of 3 Georgian Townhouses, with stabling and outhouses, to cater for the wealthy traders who settled in York at that time.
Tastefully converted and retaining many Georgian period features, our Hotel still boasts original Georgian door frames and fireplace and the original Georgian façade.
We have endeavoured to retain the period feel of the buildings through tasteful furnishings, while at the same time offering all of the comfort and amenities you would expect from a modern hotel.
Tranquil and private and retaining the original courtyard, the Newington has private parking for up to 30 cars, which is free of charge for guests. Our secure car park is covered by CCTV and can also accommodate coaches.
York Railway station is a mere 5 minutes away by car and the city centre is 10-15 minutes on foot, or 20 minutes if you prefer a more leisurely pace!
